For several years now, Samsung has been developing a separate line of technically advanced models with the Ultra suffix in the flagship Galaxy S smartphone series. Traditionally, it is in the Ultra line that all technical advancements available in the mobile device market at the time of release are concentrated and provided to the user. This year, the Galaxy S23 Ultra model was released, and it is once again the ultimate flagship smartphone with the highest price. It features the most powerful mobile processor, a top-quality display, luxurious cameras, 8K video recording, and support for working with the proprietary S Pen.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra fits wonderfully in the hand; this is the first impression that comes to mind when getting acquainted with the new device. Not all of the Koreans' smartphones have been so practical: there have been overly narrow edges and heavily curved glass — and some of that is present here to a certain extent. The smartphone did not receive trendy flat surfaces and wide sides; the body is still rounded in the old way. However, it has been shaped and materials selected in such a way that the body does not rotate in the palm and does not try to slip away, even despite its maximum dimensions and large weight.

 

The body still has curves on the sides. The screen is protected by modern Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The matte back is made of the same material. The side frame is made of "reinforced" aluminum. The frame is slightly rounded on the sides, but not as sharply narrowed as before. The top and bottom edges are completely flat. The smartphone can be placed on a table if desired, although this will not be a very stable position.

 

 

 

The cameras on the back are designed minimally — just separate protruding lenses. The unusual "bump" block that encroached on the side edge, connecting them with previous seasons, has finally disappeared in the new series.

 

On a hard surface, due to these protruding lenses, the smartphone lies unstably and wobbles when working with the screen.

 

The side buttons are large, wide, with a good soft but firm travel. They are conveniently located, just under the finger.

 

The front camera is cut out in the center by a round notch in the screen matrix. There is no LED notification indicator.

 

The fingerprint sensor is installed under the screen glass. The ultrasonic sensor responds quickly and accurately.

 

In the slot on the bottom edge, you can install two Nano-SIM cards — one on each side of the sled. There is no place for a microSD memory card. e-SIM is supported.

 

There is nothing on the top edge except for an additional microphone. The included stylus is inserted into its own slot at the bottom.

 

In addition to this slot and the SIM card slot, the bottom edge also houses the main speaker, microphone, and USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C port. The 3.5mm audio output for wired headphones is again not provided.

 

The smartphone is available in several colors: pale purple, light beige, black, white, and green. The body has full protection against dust and moisture according to the IP68 standard (withstands immersion in water at a depth of one and a half meters for half an hour).
