This fall, Apple made a bet on Retina in the iMac. And she did not miss.
The new iMac received 14.7 million pixels, which fit on a 27-inch screen with a resolution of 5120 x 2880.
The new iMac has 4 times more pixels than the standard model with the same diagonal, but at the same time it uses 30% less energy during operation.
To achieve this result, the company used more modern LED technology (which means it is more economical), as well as a special chip that coordinates pixels.
To be honest, to understand all the coolness of the new iMac Retina 5K, you need to compare it with the standard iMac model. At first glance, it may seem that there is no difference.
And if you look at the computer from a distance of one meter, then it will be like that.
All the magic of the Retina screen is revealed the moment you sit down in a chair and start looking at text and icons.
This is not such a huge difference as between the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 6, but the picture is much better.
And most importantly, your eyes will feel it. It will be much easier for them to work with Retina.
The screen difference is very noticeable when you either get very close to the screen or enlarge the picture.
The difference is colossal and here it is already clearly visible how Apple has improved its screen. The second thing is that you don't often sit and read a greatly enlarged text.
But a photo or video in high resolution is a completely different conversation. Below are two images. The first is a normal iMac, the second is an iMac Retina 5K.

The iMac Retina 5K is a great choice for people who want a powerful computer with a great screen, but don't need to buy a Mac Pro and a pair of 4K displays.

There are already tests on the network that prove that the iMac Retina 5K can outperform the standard Mac Pro in the maximum configuration.
The CPU test on Cinebench also showed that when running one core, Retina shows results of 142 points, while Pro - 133.
Another small test showed that the new iMac will not be able to process a song in Logic Pro X faster than a Mac Pro, but it will do it faster than a regular iMac.
Results: 50, 72 and 89 seconds, respectively. Importing video in 1080p resolution for 5 minutes took 69 seconds for the new products, 54 seconds for the Mac Pro, and 90 seconds for the old iMac.
However, such results are quite obvious. Mac Pro in the minimum version is more expensive than the iMac Retina 5K by $1,500.
These are computers of different price categories, although they can be loaded with the same tasks. "Proshka" will only fulfill them much faster, but not everyone is ready to pay for it.
For the money, the iMac Retina 5K is an excellent choice. On the market, 4K displays cost the same money as a full-fledged computer from Apple.
And if you do not shoot "Avatar", it is an excellent choice both for daily work and for complex tasks and workloads of a photographer or musician.
The main feature is the incredible Retina 5K screen. And it is perfect both for home (Retina is perfect for the whole family) and for work, when you have to sit in front of the screen all day.
